Julie and Jack wanted to do something a little out of the ordinary for their engagement session, so we rented a ranch up near Pala for the afternoon. There was a very cute and very smelly little donkey at the ranch who, quite unfortunately, would not let me get close enough to get a picture of him. To all of my Texas based blog readers: fields are not as easy to come by in San Diego as you might think, so you sometimes have to rent them. Katrina & Matt’s Wedding ~ Ashton Hotel, Fort Worth

Katrina and Matt had a beautiful wedding at the Ashton Hotel in Fort Worth on what felt like the hottest day of the summer. I was worried that the heat would drive everyone indoors scrambling for air conditioning, but Katrina and Matt were awesome and let me shoot in the beautiful natural outside light in downtown Fort Worth. I worked quickly so as not to overheat anybody, and got some really beautiful urban shots on the historic cobblestone sidewalks of downtown. Thank you Katrina, Matt, and everyone in your family and wedding party for braving the heat. We got some great shots and wouldn’t have been able to get them without your great attitudes and uncanny ability to look stunning in 100+ degree heat.

Kate & Brice’s Album ~ Modern Stripe

Kate and Brice had their wedding reception at the Modern Art Museum in Fort Worth and had some contemporary flair at their wedding with cobalt and silver accents thorough. Our Designer Series albums each have slightly different cover treatments that our designers recommend based on the style of the couple. We felt it only fitting to punch up the cover of their album with a modern silver stripe around their black European leather album. We also added their names in silver down the spine in a clean, modern font. Thank you, Leather Craftsmen, for doing such beautiful work on this handcrafted album. I always love the feeling that comes with sending brides their books, not only have we completed our labor of love, but we can’t wait to get them into the hands our excited brides. This one though, I was a little bit sad to see go…

Kristie & Issam ~ Ponte Winery Wedding, Temecula

Kristie & Issam chose the Ponte Winery in Temecula, California for their quaint destination wedding. The decided to do their ‘first look’ in the vineyard, and I could see Issam light up when he saw Kristie. Kristie & Issam have such a natural chemistry together and warm affection that even in the short time I have know them, I can tell that they are truly the perfect pair. Issam grew up in Casablanca, Morocco and so, naturally, their first dance was to the film’s theme song, “As Time Goes By”. Congratulations!

Melissa & Kyle ~ Urban Engagement

I recently photographed Melissa & Kyle’s engagement session in downtown Fort Worth. I went to high school with Melissa and had a great time reconnecting with her. I am looking forward to photographing their wedding in Fort Worth this coming winter. I also tested out two new lenses at this session, the 135 f2.0 and the 28 mm f1.8. I LOVE the 135 and is a new favorite of mine. Sorry to say that the 28 didn’t make the cut and get added to the camera bag permanently, but it was fun for some of the super wide shots.
