I was so excited to photograph Julie & Shawn’s wedding a few weeks ago at the US Grant hotel and at The Thursday Club in Point Loma. Julie wore a beautiful dulce de leche colored dress and I was impressed to hear that she even dyed the veil to match herself! Some of the kids in the wedding discovered a family of snails in the garden of the Thursday Club and had fun playing with them. I also loved Julie & Shawn’s custom made cake topper! Congrats!

I photographed Natalie & Matt’s engagement session in Laguna Beach. Natalie found a great little beach with a small cave-like cleft in the rock. The beach was beautiful and it was worth walking down the TONS of steps that we needed to go to get down to the beach. I am looking forward to photographing Natalie & Matt’s wedding later this summer.

The “Lounge Look” is a up and coming trend and you can expect to see hotel lobby style groupings in all shapes and sizes at weddings this year. Event and style experts are reporting that these furniture arrangements are the “It” decor item of 2010. These groupings are also neat ways to utilize space in large ballrooms and outdoor decks and provide comfy places for guests to sit near bars, food stations, or near cigar rollers. In San Diego check out Lounge Appeal or Kool Party Rentals. In Fort Worth, we like the oh-so-fabulous Todd Fiscus with Todd Events.

I photographed Julie and Shawn’s engagement session recently and am excited to photograph their wedding this month. Their wedding is my first in April and marks the start of ‘wedding season’ for me. I am excited to photograph their wedding and am looking forward to another great year!

I recently photographed Brandi and Chris’ engagement pictures recently in La Jolla and I am excited to photograph their wedding in this fall! Congrats!

I recently photographed Alexandra Wise and Brittany Cramer of Blush Botanicals at their Little Italy design studio. Alexandra and Brittany opened their floral studio in October of last year and are a fresh addition to the San Diego Wedding scene. They have contemporary, fresh arrangements and I love the copper wrap that they can do around bridal bouquets.

There are lots of ways to infuse your style into your wedding that go beyond the dress, your wedding colors, and the decor. Many couples are finding ways to incorporate fun and style into their food and drinks. Here are a few up and coming trends:
-His & Her food stations with the Bride & Groom’s favorite foods
-Specialty food stations: gelatto bars, sushi rollers, and Greek food
-Comfort foods served as a late-night snack: mini sliders, gourmet ice cream sandwiches, popcorn, and pizza are big hits with guests
-Specialty drinks like margarita and sangria bars, or a signature drink
-Wine pairing with each course if the wedding is a seated dinner
-Dressed up cocktails with tropical petals or swizzle sticks

I was recently invited to the open house for one of my favorite San Diego bakeries, Sweet Cheeks Baking Co. Of course, I had to bring my appetite and my camera! Owners Elaine and Donna are famous not only for their cute slogan “Shake the Sugar”, but also for their delicious and delightfully unusual flavors like “hoot n’ holler whiskey cupcakes”, tiramisu cake, and their smashing pumpkin cake.. If you are a food tv fan, you might also recognize Sweet Cheeks pastry chef, Charity George, from this season of TLC’s Ultimate Cake Off. Congrats on your new location and keep the sweet stuff coming!
